As a Charleston wedding photographer, I’m always excited to work at a new unique wedding venue in town. For Josh and Sharifa’s wedding, it was the South Carolina Aquarium.
The ceremony faced the water outside, with the Ravenel bridge and the USS Yorktown on the horizon. They kept the decor nautical for a gorgeous, subdued elegance. Gold chairs and dark navy color paired with the interior of the South Carolina Aquarium. A large aquarium was off to the side of the dance floor for guests to view throughout the wedding day.
Sharifa looked perfect in her delicate white gown. The bridesmaids glammed it up with gold sequin floor-length gowns as well! Josh and the groomsmen chose to have sharp grey suits to complement the girls.
Before we started the wedding party formals, we had a sweet first look with the couple. The joy in Josh’s eyes as he saw his stunning bride for the first time was clear!

The lovely bride dancing in this Charleston garden before heading to the Aquarium! Josh couldn’t stop smiling as we started the first meeting with Sharifa! These girls were showstoppers! And of course, the guys looked dapper! I’m absolutely in love with this bright, airy color combo of blue and gold for their Charleston wedding! This mineral inspired table number card was also labeled with sealife names, like the Stingray. Such fun for the guests! The view from the Aquarium was breathtaking as the moon rose over the water. I just had to grab some photos of the newlyweds as this was happening! After photos, the reception started with a sweet first dance and right into the speeches. Sparkler time! And Sharifa changed into a second gown for the reception. So glamorous!
Congrats, Josh and Sharifa!
